How do you connect two monitors to computer?

Hey guys,

I just bought two KRK Rokit G2 5 In Powered studio Monitors that have available 1/4" , TRS, and RCA inputs. How do I go about connecting both monitors to my computer?

Thanks in adv.

You need an interface that has line in or TRS inputs/outs. Or a mixer if you just want to monitor, or a mixer and interface if you want to do it all. Or again, just an audio interface like Motu 828 MKII or Presonus, M-Audio stuff if your on tight budget.

Get an audi interface that has those available connections on it. OR- If you want to connect to a soundcard that you have that I assume only has 1/8 in minijack then you need to go to radio shack and buy adapters.

a "Y" joint where the 2 at the top are female rca's, the bottom is a 1/8 in male minijack. You can plug that into a computers onboard sound card.(need rca cables too)

People really need to read more before they go out and buy gear

Not the end of the world though and easily fixed. You'll need an audio interface. Sometime like the PreSouns Firebox is a great AI for anyone starting out.

Why the mic output though? I'm confused.

My bad!

http://www.buy.com/retail/product.a...tingid=43794616

It looks kind of like that but of course its way longer and it doesn't look like a cheap mini stereo. Bought it at Sam Ash , the guy that works there sold it to me and told me it was Mic to 2 XLR y-Cables.

yeah that seems to work. only problem is that you wont get the benefit of XLR using the jack output on the laptop as its not balanced. u would want to invest in a USB soundcard soon with balanced outputs. Normaly internal laptop soundcards are really bad sounding. atleast if ur planning on making music with those monitors they deserve a good soundcard.

A USB Soundcard? What about an Audio Interface ? Would that provide balanced outputs? Or am I better off just getting the USB Soundcard? It's a gift...I don't produce so I don't know much about this.
