The Russian team is going to be pure beast-mode in 2010. Canada's gonna need to bust a few ankles to get past that thing.

I don't like your picks for Canada, especially since I know you just copy and pasted them from proicehockey.com. They clearly just listed who they think the most skilled players are, without any regard to the roles that will have to be filled for the team to be succesful. Guys like Jordan Staal and Dan Cleary are dark horses that could be integral parts to Canada's success. Lecavalier and Heatley should both be left off the list for a good 2 week vacation.

Anyway the goalie trio should include Cam Ward, he's the most consistent goalie at the training camp, even if the team in front of him weaken his numbers. It's not often you see a softie float by this guy. Brodeur and Luongo, on the other hand, can carry a team to a win, but often let a poor goal slide past, and that can't happen in an Olympic tournament.

Goalies:

Brodeur
Ward
Fleury

Defence:

Pronger
Niedermayer
Beauchemin
Phaneuf
Keith
Seabrook

Forwards:

Crosby
Nash
Cleary

Iginla
Carter
Getzlaf

Eric Staal
Jordan Staal
Richards

Sharp
Toews
Doan

Is something closer to what I'd like to see.

Canada and Russia are clear favorites, but I think that Sweden, Finland and USA also has chances to win this one. Though maybe with the case of Finland, we maybe should already say GO FOR THE SILVER...

Finland will probably look something like this:

Goalies:
Niklas Bäckström, Minnesota Wild
Miikka Kiprusoff, Calgary Flames
Pekka Rinne, Nashville Predators

Defenders:
Lasse Kukkonen, Avangard Omsk
Sami Lepistö, Phoenix Coyotes
Toni Lydman, Buffalo Sabres
Joni Pitkänen, Carolina Hurricanes
Sami Salo, Vancouver Canucks
Kimmo Timonen, Philadelphia Flyers
Ossi Väänänen, Dinamo Minsk

Forwards:
Valtteri Filppula, Detroit Red Wings
Niklas Hagman, Toronto Maple Leafs
Jussi Jokinen, Carolina Hurricanes
Olli Jokinen, Calgary Flames
Mikko Koivu, Minnesota Wild
Saku Koivu, Anaheim Ducks
Jere Lehtinen, Dallas Stars
Ville Leino, Detroit Red Wings
Antti Miettinen, Minnesota Wild
Petteri Nokelainen, Anaheim Ducks
Jarkko Ruutu, Ottawa Senators
Tuomo Ruutu, Carolina Hurricanes
Teemu Selänne, Anaheim Ducks

Better suggestions?

And this isn't 2014 olympics-topic where Mikael Granlund is one of the star players

canada could probably put 3 different teams in and have a chance at sweeping the medals

i'm not saying that we will win, but after the shitstacle of turin and playing on home ice there is no way you can't call them favourites.

As amazing as Russia's been, I just can't see Canada lose, not given the circumstances.
