Oakenfold 98 - 2000

As the new stuff is dreadful these days, I've began listening to some older stuff. I wouldn't class myself as new to trance since I have good knowledge 01 - present, got into the genre around 2000.. but missed a hell of a lot before this time.

I've been downloading a lot of Oakenfolds sets from 98, and there head and shoulders above everything I've heard, in terms of structure, selection and replay value. Really refreshing.

Short version. If your new to trance and worship present day Armin or the like. Check out some of Oakenfolds 98 sets. In a different league to anything these days.

Also, be good if people could reccomend me some his best sets. Thanks in advance.

This.

Most of these sets are hosted on mixwalla. They are all here, minus a couple snippets from a couple of sets.

Thanks. I've downloaded the creamfields set previously and listened to the set from Home Sydney, thought that was great to.

I'll download the others over the weekend! Ta.

yea but for a lot of newbies what Armin is playing now is the trance, for them thats 10/10 stuff, if they were to listen to Oakies or Tiesto's classic sets they'll go where are the vocals ?

anyway does anyone have a link for Oakenfold's Essential mix from Goa, i had it but deleted it accidently.

I've been listening to the '99 EM sets recently and actually I'd forgotten how many vocal tracks there were in those sets, surprisingly.

Not nearly as poppy as it is now though.

This EM's were more vocal because they were usually for a radio audience, and an audience not used to underground electronic music.

Some of his clubs sets from that time had far fewer vocals.
