Would you pay for 1 on 1, live teaching sessions from Trance legends?
The question is simple, would you pay for live 1 on 1 sessions from Trance legends who would let you view their screen, operate in your DAW of choice (ableton, logic, etc) and possibly even the same synths, along with full audio so you can hear them explain things and you can ask questions. (I've ran out of youtubes and I still have a lot of questions)
Some topics that could be taught....
advanced synthesis (fm, ring mod, even subtractive, etc)
advanced DAW operations
back door tricks, etc.
"bringing it all together"
whatever-the-hell-you-can-think-of
You would be able to see your instructors screen along with hearing them explain things and you could ask questions along the way. You could also record the video and go back and watch it. Additionally, "home work" (suggested reading) would be given. (The teacher would get a gauge as to where you're weak and make suggestions from there)
Let's make it simple and use Airwave (Lolo) as the example here since he is a Trance legend and posts here and people know a bit about him.
Would you be interested in paying $40 per session (1 hour sessions) for some intense teaching lessons from him?

I'd love to have Lolo over, but I doubt I'd have to pay him. I have a feeling that after a few beers, he'd probably ramble non-stop and finish off a couple of killer tracks using my studio!
why not learn all the shit yourself and develop your own style over time. Your instructor obviously didnt become a trance legend by hiring a teacher to show him some "back door tricks".

taking lessons does not preclude you from developping your own style. Most average teachers for instruments charge 40$ so I think the price is extremely fair.

Well, I personally voted "no" because I've been doing this long enough to know how to figure out most things for myself and I sorta enjoy the challenge of figuring out new things on my own. BUT, that doesn't mean that I think it's a bad idea. Your comment is akin to asking "why go to a university to get a degree when you can just go to the library and learn everything for yourself?" Hands-on experience, one-on-one (or, one professor/classroom) interaction with an instructor to walk through the process, answer your specific questions, etc. is a much more efficient way of learning than trying to figure everything out for yourself.

Bad analogy, since those professors teaching you at the university had to go to one themselves to have enough credibility to teach in the first place.
The people that'd be teaching you the tricks to being a "trance legend" probably learned what they know on their own, so there's no reason you'd have to rely on anyone any more than they did.

It's a perfectly good analogy because the person doing the teaching has the experience and knowledge to help the student learn quicker and more efficiently than he/she would on his/her own - that would be the real point of paying someone to teach you the ropes. It doesn't matter how the instructor got his/her pedigree.

I bet you're one of those people that thinks knowing music theory hinders your creativity, am I right?
I voted yes on this. Still to this day, I find new things in my DAW or in the synths I use that would have made things much easier for me on past projects. I mean I guess that's just the learning process but it would have been nice to be taught. That way, you can start using your DAW/synth to a greater extent immediately, instead of waiting a year to really know your way around.

Yes, I would absolutely pay money to be taught innovative new methods such as sidechaining and tempo manipulation. I need to be on top of my fruityloops game so I can get tiesto to play my songs!!!
