[Ambient/Experimental] Alex-F - Rauschharmonie

another analogue "thing" (hence the noise and the crackles), figured out this evening. the ending is more annoying than expected, maybe i'll fix that in pro tools, but so far this track is not yet influenced by any computer

have fun and be merciful

I feel like the whooshing wind sound could sound a little less muffled. I dont really know too much about ambient music and production but I really do appreciate and enjoy the chords you've used towards the end, pretty nice and relaxing =)

Keep at it!

thanks for your comment the wind sound is actually a synth which has a fixed lowpass filter slope, i have tried to vary the resonance to make the sound brighter but i dont think its possible to get a super realistic wind sound i find the contrast between noise and harmony somewhat disturbing and i dont know why...

When I make ambient music I usually try to envision someplace, a photo of a vista or something like that. The same happens when I listen to it. I try to see something in my head that the music reflects for me.

This definitely did that.

Very good work. Its always lovely to see ambient posted here.

really nice, the first half with the filtered synth builds up quite nice for the pad in the second half

On the note of faux wind... I have found that if your synth has a random option for either the intensity, the shape, or the frequency of its LFO, assigning that random LFO to the filter or volume, or any other parameter that you think would help control and vary the intensity or sound of the wind is a good idea.

thanks for the tip, i know exactly what you mean. lfo2 is actually patched via cv to lfo1 and randomly increases and decreases the speed of lfo1 (which controls the filter frequency of the noise), but the effect of lfo2 on lfo1 is waaay too soft (there is an attenuation knob for lfo-interaction and i was too cautious with that). if you listen closely you can actually hear variations in the wind "speed". but again thanks for your ideas, i will take them into consideration for my next track

this is way far from what i listen to, but i like. i only think that very final whooshing wind sound is a little too harsh on the ears.

Caught this one on a search for "ambient."

Nice moody chords and wind effects. I like it. Very cinematic, too, definitely brings to mind a wasteland or desert of some kind, harsh landscape.

Hope to hear more from you. Seems like there's been so little ambient and other non-dance music in this forum lately.
