Good sturdy desks for turntables

What kind of desks are best for turntables? Currently I have a desk that was in the apartment when i first moved in but when i practice on them the tables wobbles violently from side 2 side.

It really scares me because the more practice the sooner the tables will fall apart. Im currently looking at some tables to buy and want to know in everyone's experience, which tables are the most sturdiest? Are glass tables good for turntablism?

I got myself two of these (dark-brown ones) side by side

http://www.ikea.com/ca/en/catalog/products/70053924

Fits 2 techs and a Xone:92 nicely with space left between the mixer and the TTs.

You can also get the glass top for it if you think that makes it sexier.

I got it, smoke one, not the green. Dunno if it really makes a difference for me though. I've never been a huge fan of glass tables etc. But maybe it does kinda bind the two chests together better, so they look more like one big chest.

Anyway, this setup works like a charm for me. Cheap and doesn't look half bad. How it'd fit you depends really on how tall you are though. The chests are 100 cm high and I'd say it's the perfect height for me (I'm 186 cm).

I know you asked about desks, but IMO desks for DJ gear rarely work that well, unless it's something especially built for DJ gear, like the Sefour stands.

Here's what I used when I had turntables:

Worked very well and I also put two cdjs on the lower shelf. I still use the same desk now just not with turntables.

£249 for the black one..

or £269 for the walnut one which i think is quite nice.

You'd just have to check where your local distributer is located

you could build your own for very cheap using a door as the desk for ample room.

use the search.

a member named leif posted how he did his this way, and it is pretty nice for a fraction of the price that anything in this thread costs.

I have 3 options.

#1 I have a drawer that I could use, but its very tight space.

#2 I can call this guy up and ask for the price and if it is reasonable, I could purchase it.

#3 I can make a desk myself based on this model:

I did and found nothing related to what you speak of. I even searched threads by him in the past year. Nothing. If you know where the thread is please link me.

I actually built a replica table of the x30 myself.

Works an absolute beaut. Nice and sturdy as well.

Here's an image of most of the desk.

Found some of my older pics of the build.

I built my own as well. Its easy as pie and you can alter the design so its exactly how you want.

I actually custom designed mine from scratch.

If you don't have much experience building stuff (or even if you do and are just lazy/time poor), get the guys at the hardware store (Bunnings, Home Depot, whatever the local equivalent is) to cut everything to length on their equipment. It'll take 2 minutes and takes out any variability and a lot of effort on your part. Then its just as easy as painting/finishing and bolting it together yourself.
