Re: My 2 cents about Armin\Armada

Armin Van Buuren: A disc jockey who, own his own label, selects and plays recorded music for an audience recorded by some artists who have got their music made by an engeneer, or consequently selects music recorded by their personal selected artists (some on their own label), based on motives that will gain their own popularity and\or gain their labels (and labels artists) popularity in which they will earn more money.
- I have reliable sources saying that Armin only plays music from the artists that he wants to support, and concequently avoid supporting some artists despite their releases containing variety of versions that could suit his style. He supports artists, not tracks themselves. This is judging on forehand.
- Wether its Armins managment who also concequently ditches some artists, cause Armin himself cant go through all the promos himself, or if its Armin himself who selects who i wants, or a little of both is questionable.
- I also know labels, artists, cause of this, are wondering why Armin isnt supporting some releases, seeing the quality and number of mixes to choose from. I know artists who have talked about boicotting Armin in the promo run cause of this.
- Some labels have experienced that Armin didnt support some of the labels favourite releases, but he supported some of the poor ones, but by artists he has played before.
- Also sign of SAFING his own sets..
Example: An artist friend of mine gave a track to a Armin, and he said he was gonna play the track in his show..but it never happened... later on the same track was given to the same dj through an established dj\artist\label, and suddenly the dj wanted to play the track and have it as the highlight of the week...
Example #2: A track was sent out to quite a few people, Armin included, but wasn't played until it came complements of Anjunabeats. .
Have also heard similar stories from other artists.
- I have heard roumors of people in Armadas managment who tried to boicott artists cause they ended up signing their tracks to another label.
Armin is pissed at Tiesto and Ferry Corsten cause they never plays his stuff, allthough he keeps playing their releases. And some arguments have occured cause of this.
- I know a lot of people think many artists are known mostly cause they are signed to Armada and have Armin backing them blindly up.
He said in an interview that he supported some selected artists..
Example (written by DarkMemoria): tranceaddict top 100 DJs, Arnej ranks in 60th place. This guy is purely a producer, and basically Armin whored a bunch of his tracks on ASOT, and this guy gets voted into the top 100 DJs.
If you listened to his set on ASOT 400, he couldn't mix a rum & coke, let alone a competent DJ set.
My question is: Does a DJ like this really deserve to be no.1? In my opinion, no. Is Armada \ Armin realizing they are indirectly destroying what once was called the trance scene by doing this?
If you got more gossip, please feel free to share.

You really don't have anything better to do?

You pick up this working girl who's hooked on smack, who hussles and scores. "That's all I do" she says, she says "Ten bucks for head, fifteen for half-and-half". She says "Three hits a day at 35 per", you say "That's seven tricks a day at least", but she says "Sometimes I get lucky. Once this guy gives me a bill-and-half just to eat me, only time I ever came".
You figure you can save her. You sell your color tv, that keeps her off the streets a whole day. You hawk your typewriter for one jolt. Then your shotgun, your watch. A week later you say "Listen I'm a little short", but she says "No scratch, no snatch". You say "Look it is better to give", but she says "Beat off creep".
One night they spot you on the street in your skibbies trying to sell your shoes. You tell them who you are, but they nail you. Then she happens by and she says "Christ you look fucked", she says "Hang tough!". But you don't say anything, you just think "what a bum rap for a nice, sensitive guy like me".

for fucks sake. can this forum ever discuss MUSIC? does it always have to have the constant flow of armin/tiesto/pvd threads 4 times a week? jesus christ, this is worse than asking people at a jonas brothers concert for their opinion on blues/jazz
when will you guys ever stop giving a shit about these damn cock cobblers? shit on my fucking forehead. of all the supposed intelligent people on this forum you'd think music discussion would be a bit more interesting
christ, we already know who likes armin and who doesn't. same shit, recycled over and over again. this guy making a laughing face, saying the same shit, " , what a fuckin' joker LOLOL" and then this guy doing a rollie eyes smily saying "lol, i'll listen to whatever i want, i still like trance, you are fairly wrong about the philosophy of trance, it has gotten better since the 90's "
holy shit this is almost as bad as landover baptist forums
