Work in progress - Classic Trance?.......Now a 'final' render!
This is something I started at the weekend and it's in a fairly unfinished state but most of the elements are in place. The hats are a bit crunchy because the master is a bit hot I think.

Nice mix, everything sits well, not over compressed and some head room left, nice use of depth in the mix.... the only thing when it finished it felt like was about to go into the next gear and add the melodic part? was that the whole track?

You're spot on, it IS about to go into the next gear after perhaps another drop or sliced up mini break. After much tinkering i've still not found the right sound though. I did experiment with some guitar solo stuff believe it or not but it just wouldn't sit right.
I'll get there though, and thanks for the feedback
I have no idea who Thomas Penton is (edit - no....Vengeance)
I have to admit the track was HEAVILY influenced my one of Alan Marceros.
I like what you've got so far, Geoff, but I hope that when you extend it, you can bring in some more melodic elements; otherwise, I could see it getting a little monotonous. The mix does sound clean as always! Can't wait to hear the final version!

Thanks Dave,
This track started out life as a complete experiment tbh. Firstly trying to emulate some of the things that I heard in an Alan Mercaro track and secondly I was using it to chop up some female vocals for a remix I was doing, I think you know the ones!
Introducing a melodic element is essential though.
This is first track in a few days that has a lot of aggression and dynamics in it. Really short for me to connect to it but the first 2 min are really good.
+1 from me.
I know that you would like to extend this track to about 8 min, and to keep this tension I would modulate your temp and run some good sounding FX to transition between different part of this song.
Damned, get me another beer man, I started to feel it.
