I tried installing the drivers for the M-Audio Audiophile 2496 sound card in Windows 7. Is there anyone here who's using this card and got it to work under Windows 7?

My problem is that there's a huge reverberating Echo when the volume on the mixer (Windows mixer, not the M-Audio Control Panel) is set to 100%. I find that I have to move it down to ~25% to get rid of the hiss and the echo, but then the sound is too quiet.

Here's what I'm talking about : in Windows 7, there is a Volume Mixer when you click on the Speaker icon in the system tray:



If the bar is set to 100%, as it was in XP with no issues, an Echo starts to happen. Does anyone have an idea why this is?

I haven't used a Delta card for a really long time, but I think you have to open the Delta control panel, click on the Patchbay/Router tab, and choose WaveOut 1/2. I think by default it's on Monitor Mixer, which may cause the delay effect.

I'm also using the soundcard under windows 7 and I don't have this problem. Which drivers did you use?

I used the Windows 7 drivers available on their site.

But I think I fixed it: I had to turn the Monitor bar down (or make it silent). So in that picture, when you drag the Monitor (rightmost) bar to 0, that gets rid of the echo. (Line 1/2 should be up at 100%)

Does anyone know what the Monitor does? Will I ever need it?

They've changed their Control Panel. Now, it looks like this:



Right now, my Output setting is set to "SW Rtn", is that correct?

Yeah I think so. It's the default, and I don't have any problem with it.
