Live Performances

Has anyone witnessed a live performance before? I've always wondered how it would be done. ie. Nu-NRG's performance at orgasmatron. what do they bring..and how would they go about playing their songs?

I have seen plenty of Live! performances in my day. My favorite would have to be, S.U.N. Project. They played the guitar, the keyboard, and the drums. Pretty sick shit.

P.S. you're a fag.

hey

I haven't actually seen a lot of live dance performances, a couple of them (including sylver and milc inc....which I doubt was very live), but I'm quite interested in the concept of live performance and techniques involved, as I'm busy putting together a live act myself. Real live performances are mainly based around switching patterns and muting/unmuting channels (and editing involving the mixing desk, like tweaking volumes/EQ/FX/filters, and some synth/drumbox parameter tweaking)

Does it look like it takes a lot of work to pull off a live performance? How are you preparing for your live act Pjotr?

S.U.N. Project isn't the only LIVE! act I have seen. I have also seen Steve Baltes, Nostrum, Warp Brothers, Captain Tinrib, Binary Finary, Baby Doc & S-J, and Nu Idol. They usually just consist of keyboard usage by actually playing the melody of the song, instead of just spinning the record. It is quite an experience, I must say...[Especially, if you're rolling hard]. But out of all these shows, I must say S.U.N. Project KICKED ASS!!

Phasedout, we are going to a party in November, whether you like it or not! We'll pick you up.

Aside from this, when are we going to skate?

P.S. Hey, I'm in Sequence Productions too. And I am thinking about changing the name to "Sequence : Universal Productions", since we do all kinds of productions. And since you hold half ownership, tell me what you think. LATE....

Yep takes some work. You have to see what you're gonna take on stage, and make sure it gets as stable as possible...you don't want any crashes on stage (which is why I'm not planning on using a PC). Then you have to program all your songs/patterns....

i've seen Sash! preform live.. he had 2 keyboards.. and I dunno what else. just basically played it on the keyboards live, with the beats going in the background..

and I've seen Svenson and Gielen preform live on a video clip.. Had 2 keyboards, but Im pretty sure it wasnt all done live.

and i've seen darude preform live on TV.. he had a bunch of keyboards and samplers.

i think alot of people just pretend like they're doing it live,, cause its too easy to screw up.. or just do certain parts live

Everybody who creates dance - certainly trance - understands that you can't bring a live set. You can play one part live if it is not too complicated (because otherwise it needs quantizing which can not be done realtime) and tweak some parameters (enveloppes, cutoff, ...) and mute / unmute parts and that's about it. Most of the keyboard players are faking . I know faithless is one of the exeptions who do a full live set and well they need a whole crew to do it so how could one man do a full live? You need pre-recorded stuff

How long do you think its gonna take to prepare your performance Pjotr, and make sure you broadcast it so we all can listen I've seen the twisted video by svenson and gielen, either he's playing the melody like crazy or hes over exagerating it a bit.....i would understand it if a performer faked it...being that what they do is pretty crazy itself....but it would be very disappointing...
