TSP, 1 Turntable, 3/4 decks..

So, in this video.

http://www.dancetrippin.tv/lib.cfm/..._Richie_Hawtin/

Hawtin and Carola are going back to back but my question is it seems like Hawtin is only using one turntable.

How I've often wanted to introduce a third a deck into my mix but the logistics of it have kept me from really getting into it.

Is there a quick way that you could route your third deck over to your turntable so that you could beatmatch it and then switch over to any of the other decks.

Obviously you could go into the settings and reroute there but I'm wondering is there a quicker way?

Also, why would they be using the Aux sends at the top of the mixer ? unless an effects unit was hooked up which i don't think there is seeing as he's using traktor. (Or is it it being sent over to what looks like a one 1D?)

Got an answer over on the native instrument forums.

Here a little excerpt from the "Traktor Bible":

Timecode and one Turntable/CD Player
Even if you only own one turntable/CD player (or if during a gig one of your turntables/CD players dies) it is possible to spin with timecode. The reasons that this can work are:
- You can assign the timecode signal of one audio input to two decks.
- If two decks share one timecode signal only one of the two decks can be in absolute time tracking mode.
- If you activate absolute mode for one of the two decks than Traktor switches the other deck automatically to internal mode.
Form a practical perspective this opens up the following usage scenarios.

Variation 1: Switching automatically to Absolute Mode when Loading a Track
Let’s assume the timecode signal from the turntable/CDJ player is connected Input Channel A (both corresponding connections from the audio interface have been assigned to channel A in dialog Preferences/Audio Setup) and that you want to use deck A and B for timecode. In this variant you need to configure two settings:
-Use dialog Preferences/Timecode Setup to assign channel A to Decks A and B by clicking on A and B in column Channel A of section Assign to Decks.
-Activate the option Switch to Absolute Mode when loading on the same dialog page.
With these settings Traktor behaves as follows:
1. Load a track into deck A. Because the option Switch to Absolute Mode when loading is enabled Traktor sets deck A to absolute mode.
2. Play the track in deck A.
3. Load a track into deck B. Because the option Switch to Absolute Mode when loading is enabled Traktor sets deck B to absolute mode. Because two decks a sharing one timecode signal, and because only one of the decks can be in absolute mode, Traktor switches deck A from absolute, to internal mode. Now you can use your turntable/CDJ player to pitch the track in deck B and make the transition.
4. Once the channel fader of deck A is completely closed, load the next track into deck A. Traktor sets deck A to absolute mode and deck B to internal mode.
5. And so on.

Variation 2: Switching manually to Absolute Mode
Variation number 2 is based on the same principle. The difference with variation 1 is that in variation 2 the switch to absolute mode is done manually. The initial position here is identical to the one from variation 1 (the signal from the turntable/CDJ player is fed into channel A and deck A and B are used for time-code). To use this variation you need to do three things:
- Use dialog Preferences/Timecode Setup to assign channel A to decks A and B. To do this click the letters A and B in column Channel A of section Assign to Decks.
- Create a hotkey mapping to switch deck A to absolute mode (Timecode | Scratch Mode Int/Rel/Abs, Interaction Mode: Direct, Assignment: Deck A, Set to value: Absolute, maybe use key A for this mapping).
- Create a second hotkey mapping to switch deck B to absolute mode (Time-code | Scratch Mode Int/Rel/Abs, Interaction Mode: Direct, Assignment: Deck B, Set to value: Absolute, maybe use key B for this mapping).
Both hotkeys set the deck selected in the list Assignment to absolute mode. Traktor switches other decks that are currently in absolute mode automatically to internal mode when one of these hotkeys is pressed.

it looks like they're just using one deck each, i think hawtin was using the 1D or 2D for samples and stuff, they're using the aux to send to the guitar pedal to the top left of the mixer which comes back in through a separate channel and i think there's another box below it as well
