Hi Guy`s,

I want to buy my self a Motif XS 6. The only question for me is, is it a good synth for trance production`s.

I've never owned one, but I considered an XS8 pretty seriously a while ago. It's a good all-around workstation synth, but I wouldn't say that it necessarily excels at trance. It's great for bread-n-butter sounds and workstation features (e.g., on-board sequencer, mixing, multi-timbral mode). If you're a Cubase user, it integrates pretty nicely with the Motifs, so that's a big plus. Overall, it seems to appeal to the hip-hop/RnB crowd, but it's got a lot of usable EDM presets and drums in it and, of course, you can program your own. But, its programming isn't as user friendly as the knobby interface of many (virtual) analog synths - in other words, programming patches on the Motifs requires a bit of menu diving or use of a software editor, rather than dedicated knobs/buttons for synth programming on the front panel.

Bottom line is that it's a good synth, but depending on how you want to use it, there may be better options. If you're looking for a good workstation/synth, especially one that integrates with Cubase, the Motifs are great IMO. But, if you're more interested in lots of trance presets and/or hands-on programming of trance sounds, you may be better off looking for a good virtual analog synth in the same price range (e.g., Nord, Access, Waldorf, etc.).

It’s not that I’m looking for the integration whit Cubase. It’s more for the piano sound and, but I don’t now how good he is, for strings. Not a cello or viols but nice detuned trance string and warm, wide pad’s.

Other equipment I have is the Ti, supernova and a ION.

I had the Andromeda but that was not mine cup of tea.

(sorry if my English isn’t correct)

I think the Motif XS6 would be a great addition then. I really like the sound and variety of pianos and strings/pads in the Motif and it will cover a lot of other sounds that the T1, Supernova, and ION don't. Hopefully some people who own a Motif will chime in as well, but I'd say go for it!

It should be noted (important to some) that the Motif XS can NOT take the modular plug-in boards. No AN or DX boards on the new Motif, folks.

I would get the Motif Rack ES!

I'd get omnisphere mate. More of the sounds you want, less cost, less of the features that'll slow you down, better interface

Thank you all for the help. I have played with him this noon and I think it`s not the synth I'm looking for. I think that I will tray the Omnisphere.
