Earlier today I started a thread that I now regret. I didn't realise it at the time but I was inadvertently promoting racial hatred.
I have now come to realise that people, whatever their true heritage, have the right to pretend they are Irish and behave in ways that have very little to actually do with Ireland, to the detriment to the reputation of people actually from that country, and to reinforce incorrect negative stereotypes about that country.
I understand now that it's perfectly ok for someone born in the United States to ignorantly support and fund terrorism against their countries' closest ally on an island they can't even identify on a map all because one of their great grandparents came from there.
I see now that people have the right to do this without any criticism, for to do so would be racially hateful.
I won't make these mistakes again, my life has been changed for the better.

I used to think this photograph was stupid, but then I opened my mind and now I understand it better.
You see, when these Irish American artists painted the names of terrorist groups on to this wall, they must have only been trying to connect with the land of their fathers and embrace their heritage. To think anything less of them would only be hateful.

This is hateful, but it isn't racially hateful. I understand the difference now.
