Having worked in a record shop for a few years, I can say that is the single position in which you are allowed, even expected to be overly opinionated and condescending. I took full advantage of that perk.
I was only outdone by a friend who worked with me there, and also at the local video store. 24 hour media snobbery it was with him. I was in awe.

I love it when people who have shitty jobs try to power trip you like that.
I hate it too when it's somewhere normal, but I find it funny at a music or movie store. People tend to be so into what they love that they can't see outside of their own perspective.
Anywhere else selling products void of any emotional attachment, and the person just comes off as insecure by using their little lot in life as their pulpit to "get back" at people who have "wronged them".
