Hey Montreal,

I have a feeling I am going to end up at Ritual in Ottawa for Derrick Carter on Jan 15.... What can I expect going in? Is this destined to be a awful night? What is Ritual like?


I figured it would make more sense to ask in this subforum than TOTA.

It's not bad it's a small club. If you ever heard of an old club in Ottawa called Atomic it's the old Atomic space. Again small space not the best sound system but it does it's job. I saw D-Formation earlier this year at Ritual and honestly had a great night. Now I only need to learn that stilettos aren't always the beat dancing shoes.....

Just go in with no expectation and don't try to compare it to clubs like your probably used to in Toronto such as the Guvernment, it will fail miserably.

Also if your looking to book a hotel near the club Le Suites is right across the street. Pretty decent hotel actually

As Haus said, it is a small venue, and the sound is nothing to write home about. But as long as you're coming for the purpose of hearing Derrick spin, and not to be blown away by the club, you should have a good time.

Derrick has a history with Ottawa, in that he usually comes to play for a local promoter/club owner's B-day every year ... that might be this party actually ... point is, crowd at ritual likes to get drunk and dance to this kinda house ... heather, mark farina, derrick carter all usually have really fun nites when they play here.

Thanks for the feedback. We will see how that weekend pans out. Hopefully something at Stereo will spark my friends interest instead.

ritual is terrible.. think basement of some sketch bags house.. thats ritual.
