a midi controller is just for controlling your software or soft synths.

Do you want an actual synth or soft synths?

Ya see this is what confuses me, it might be a blonde thing, probly is but, yea a midi only controls soft synths but seeing as what i really want one for is to use with a DAW do i really need a sintetizer, i mean all the different apps/soft will have tons of different samples which i can control with the midi, and a sintetizer will have its own samples which i can use for whatever, (and with DAW apps???)

So do you get me?

yah. IF you want to do all of it on your comp and not record anything externaly then i think you just want a midi controller, but then you have to decide on which soft synhts you want to buy and what daw to use.
