~[The Phone Thread]~
Toronto TA has one of these and they are very helpful:
Discuss your:
-Iphone
-BlackBerry
-Droids
-or any other phone you might have;
as well as application recommendations, service providers, suggestions, troubleshooting, opinions, etc.....
I specifically wanted to start this thread for myself, to get opinions on a couple verizon options:
I am currently with verizon, and want to stay there (unforunately, no iphone for me) I have a free upgrade in a month, and want to know what people think of the BB Storm 2 and the Motorola Droid. Maybe even the BB Tour, as I am weary of the touchscreens. Any suggestions?

picked up my nokia e71x w/ wifi in june, but i hear they require data plan for new accounts now. lovely phone, just like any higher end nokia.
i hear good things about the droid. fastest responding phone i've used in awhile.
really depends how much tech stuff you need your phone to do. if you just want pics/txt/calls/business stuff then any smart phone will work. if you need to RDP/VNC to a server, you might need something a bit more advanced that is only available from europe/asia.
btw, phonescoop.com is your friend.

Good thing this thread popped up
I am on Sprint and do not intend to leave them. I've had one of the crappy flip phones for years and I am ready to graduate to an android, have been particularly looking @ the HTC Hero. Does anybody have this phone or is anybody here familiar with it?

i was maybe lookin into gettin a blackberry but iam kinda afraid i will break it and i heard if you have to pay extra $$ a month to use it from at&t or something
my work phone is verizion and it gets service everywhere so service wise in the tri-state area i would say verizion is the best

AT&T is such a ripoff. Felix and I are happy with Sprint and the family plan with everything included is $120, what you would pay for one phone with AT&T. Out of all, Verizon is definitely the best, but I'm happy enough with Sprint to stay with them.

I don't think I've ever been truly satisfied with any phone I've ever had. I dunno. I have a blackberry pearl now, it's ok I guess but I definitely wouldn't recommend it. I have verizon, and I'd switch to get an iphone but I think my fingers are too fat, or maybe I'm just not dexterous enough to use the keypad on the iphone. but like, I feel like you have to concentrate too hard on it and if your finger slides you spend too much time deleting.
SO... i have a feeling im going to go wit the droid when i upgrade in a couple months.
either that or I try and buy some crazy sick phone on ebay from Hong Kong with a conversion on it or whatev
im all about the google phone (nexus one) thats supposed to come out this month or the next. My buddy who works for google has it already and its insane. It was a blast to play with it.
i've had a blackberry curve for 2 years now and its time to let it go. I do have to say that the phone is a tank (it has kissed the pavement lots of times!) and the only thing ive had to replace was the trackball. I am going to miss bbm. its convenient as hell cuz lots of my friends use it.

Ive had the BB Curve for ages now and I adore it. I have literally had zero problems with it, except one replacement trackball (which, consequently, was not even a big deal, as I walked into the store, told 'em it was broken, and walked out with a new one 2 minutes later, no questions asked).
I really would like to try out the 30-day trial on the Storm 2, as the reviews are all over the place. Either people say its the best phone ever, or hate it completely. Motorola Droid is capturing my attention as well, but not sure which one to go with, since I am a loyal BB lover

t-mobile G1, modded with Cyanogen Mod and overclocked to about 500MHz.
4GB SD card with ~3.5GB free, ~500MB formatted in ext4 for running apps from the SD card.
I am a very big phone junkie. Before i got the iphone i used to switch phones every month. then i kinda settled down with the iphone then iphone 3g then the iphone 3GS. then with the amount of dropped calls and poor reception and other annoying things i have up the iphone 3gs. moved to the new blackberry bold 9700. it is a good phone but i need more from a phone than just texting and internet so it was not fulfilling all my needs. so i decided to get the new Nokia N900.
and all i can say is im in love with this phone, the only phone on the market that can beat the iphone. Built in 32GB storage +16GB expandable, 5MP cam, ARM CORTEX8 Processor, Full flash brower, QWERTY keyboard, GPS, Built in FM Transmitter, Plays internet radio stations like DI.FM and AH.FM so i can listen to the trance on the go. plays all kind of video formats like avi, mp4 etc. the screen has a better resolution than the iphone. the sound is superb. the Maemo operating system is a linux based operating system and works great, they are a lot of apps u can download for the phone and they are coming with an app store for this phone which is out for the other nokia phones called the OVI store. the UI is really great, i can run multiple apps at the same time. the phone also had built in navigation system. 2cameras front and back. Built in skype and google talk clients.
the video recording on the phone is DVD like. the phone comes with a cable that u can connect it to the tv and watch movies off ur phone or watch the videos/pics u clicked with it in 1080i
the only cons are the phone cost me $600 without contract and its a lil bulky. but yeah it serves all my needs as a phone, internet tablet, music/video player, camera, portable gaming device etc.
