Looking For Good Compilations

Yeah yeah, another recommendation thread.

I'm looking for a few good trance albums that came out in the earlier history of trance. Before supersaws & epic breakdowns were common place in every song (I'm looking at you, Anjunabeats ). So stuff in the same vein of the early Tiesto mixes: Summerbreeze, In Search Of Sunrise 1 & 2 & the Magick series.

I'd like albums that actually go somewhere as they progress. Something I could play in the car & just forget about touching it again. Specifically, I'm looking for compilations that were mixed by a non-DJ Mag Top 10. So no Armin, Paul, Tijs, or Oakie please.

THANK YOU!

That's kinda hard since those guys were the ones making the awesome mixed CDs back then.

That's kind of difficult since the ISOS, Magik compilations came out around 99-2000 while the earlier years of trance we are talking about 1990-1994. But I would suggest you check out compilations from Platipus, Superstition, Eye Q Records, Rising High Records.

Try some of the old Euphoria compilations, such as the first three. They're a bit quirky in the mixing and programming, but definitely from a different era of trance mixes.

1999 is eleven years ago now, and unquestionably an earlier period of trance. Is it necessary to repeat this sermon every single time? Recommend him something he asked for, not what suits your ideological crusade.

This has nothing to do with my ideological perception since I also feel that it sometimes gets a tad too much.
If we say that trance have been around for 20 years now there is no need to ignore the fact that the firt half 1989-1997 sounds much different than the trance was around the shift of the millenia. I am not talking the usual quality talk here. I am talking about the sound of it. I would not say that the 1999 is "earlier years" when we are talking about a timespan of 20 years.

If we're talking about a 20 year time span, 1999 is in the first 10 years of that span and therefore closer to the beginning than to the present. So you would be utterly wrong.

You're also lying, because rather than saying "I wouldn't class 1999 as earlier, but here's some helpful recommendations" you said "I wouldn't class 1999 as earlier, so here are some things from a period you aren't actually asking for." Yet another example of this rather pathetic desire to educate about trance in every post rather than actually helping people out.

You have to be kidding me if you think that the style of trance at the year 1999 is closer to the early years than it is to the trance of today.
Also the guy clearly asked for CDs with none of the big names. So in case of that you have to dig deeper for the earlier years. I can't
Although now when I read his first post it's kind of contradictive. He gives examples of Magik and ISOS but don't want anything by Tiesto or Oakie or any big names.

We clearly must have a different opinion of the style of sound. I would definetly say that the majority of stuff that was producde in 99-00 have a closer resemblance to the trance of today than it have to the stuff that was produced in the early 90s.

Do you actually see him talk about style/sound anywhere in that post?
