Exclamation The Hardware (fx) Thread

If anyone has any decent pieces of hardware that have shone in their dance music please name them and name how.

I'll go first.

Bought an Orban 642b parametric eq from Ebay a few months back, gave it a roll at my mates and it is awesome, even on his uber shite setup, super-clinical, very clean and generally very good bang for buck.

If anyone has had any experience with SSL clone compressors i'd like to hear about them

hardware FX? Just uad UAD or Waves. :P

Using a hardware FX unit is way too much of a PIA. I'm willing to accept an un-noticeable degradation in sound quality by using my UAD plugs.

Do we have to own it? =]

If not I think it would be safe to say Mr. Culture Vulture.

I don't own it myself but we used Briscasti Reverbs (m7) on many film projects.

Nothing sounds as good as them on strings. Nothing. Ever has. Should do too at $1700 per channel. We did use lexicon 970's but these have been bumped to second choice.

In terms of preamps, we used the Never 1081r on most projects for the crucial close mic lines and the desk for the rest.

They do what they're meant to - clean gain, clear sound and very versatile.

the manly Dual mono DI gets used for nearly every project along with the avalon design U5 as per the talents taste.

There's also a giant SPL passive eq but it never gets used
