Ok, I know all the specs of each inside and out. I've owned just about all of them, but not at once. What I'm wondering, is if anyone has been able to do an direct sonic comparison of the A/B/C vs the TI --- all using the analog outs. I'm wondering if the Virus series has somewhat been like the Nord Lead series where each "update" sounded a bit different given the same patch.

I'd also be interested in hearing about A vs B, B vs C, A vs C if anyone knows ...
I have owned a few of these, I have had C, KC, Indigo, Indigo II, and a TI original, I also have now a KB keyboard.
Although most of them have been the C engine and I have not been able to do a sonic comparison I would have to agree with you that yes its most similar to the nord range, presets remain the same, though vary slightly from model to model due to OS upgrades.

I've also owned some variation of each model, but no two at the same time, so I've never been able to do a direct comparison.
i still own a virus b and ti. some years ago i compared both. while the digital outs sound a bit colder, the difference is very subtle. over analog there's not really a difference audible.
though that the virus sounds digital depends a lot on the sound design. especially if you push the highs too much with the eq or a full open filter. the nord rack 3 doesn't sound less digital to me overall.

I've read many rumours that the Ti versions sounded less warm than the earlier models. I've no personal experience to back this up though.
I'm considering the Virus Powercore plugin, but asking how warm that sounds is most likely pointless
If you're buying a nice synth like Virus TI...might as well invest some money on a nice warm pre amp to run it through, thats what I iz gonnna do for my TI. Gotta treat it right.

the powercore is a little harsher than the hardware but in a mix, it is absolutely unnoticeable.

Interesting. If you feel they sound the same, though, especially when not using the TI's digital outs, why are you holding on to the Virus B?
