But it's the job of schools to prepare children to function in the adult world, in whatever way is necessary.
Why leave the welfare of a child up to parents who are displaying incompetance.
Yes it is the job of the parents, but it's the job of the parents to do it right. |
If a school wants to monitor the food that is provided on campus, then that’s fine. But you can’t really agree that rifling through a child’s/parent’s possessions looking for naughty food is appropriate? Especially considering there’s no real harm in the occasional bit of shit food- what about the skinny, healthy people? are you going to go through their lunchbox too, or are you just going to discriminate against the fatties?

If they aren't doing the job then someone has to. |
Why?
Why not go further- why not get the school to buy a child’s uniforms if the parent’s cant afford them? Give them lifts to school? Help their parents get over their alcohol addiction? Where does a school’s paternalism begin and end?
You cant make up for shit parents.
