this week hopefully i'm buying a new gaming console , it's either the PS2 or the XBOX (same price , 299$ which is 199 US$) , but i don't know what to get .

i know PS2 can play DVD MOVIES and burnt CDs , but what about the XBOX ? and what do u suggest ?

I say PS2. The game selection is much better all around than X-Box. X-box got off to a hot start and then kinda fizzled. To me, stay with whats consistent, reliable and always has great games which is the PS2.

PLEASE get the PS2...I've played alot of games on XBox and I really do not like that system. The controller is like u're holding a cheeseburger, the games aren't the best (sure there's a few but the majority SUCK). Yes, I know Microsoft has released the controller S in the US, which is the Japanese controller and is much smaller than the US one...but the controller still sucks. You can't play DVDs on XBox unless you buy the DVD package which loads the DVD software onto the system. Out of all the XBox games there's only about a handful that I really enjoy. Ever read about how you can rip tracks from your CDs and play games with the songs you choose? Yeah well that trick doesn't work with burnt CDs...only copyrighted ones.

The PS2 can play DVD w/o having to buy a package. Although you might want to buy the DVD remote because using the controller can get quite annoying. Yes the XBox has a better DVD player but I buy a gaming system for games not movies. I've had my PS2 since release day and I'm very happy with it. Not only do I get to play the huge selection of PSone games...I get to play the huge amount of PS2 games also. I've got 11 games for the PS2 right now and that number will probably be up past 15 by years end. With Sony having the rights to Grand Theft Auto until 2004 and 2 GTA games in progress I'd stick with the PS2. The PS2 is also going online in August in the US and by winter I'll be playing FFXI online

Personally I'd say get the PS2 but don't leave out the Xbox. I have both consoles and I'm happy with them both. Ps2 for sure right now has more and better games. But Xbox will be releasing a lot more games starting in the fall. Pretty much what ps2 will release xbox will have a version of it unless a game is only going to be released on a specific console. Graphically, Xbox owns. Especially with the S-Video cables. I can tell the xbox has slightly better graphics than the ps2. PS2 has mod chips where you can play burnt/copied games. I'm not sure if xbox will have a mod chip of somesort coming in the near future or maybe there is already I'm not sure but that's a con for the xbox since you'll have to buy all the games. I like the xbox because because you can play with 4 controllers without buying the adapter like for ps2. A reason why i bought the xbox was cause of HALO! such a sweeeeeeet game!

PS2 is better because of the games . XBOX has better graphics but who cares since games are more important than graphics.

I've played both, but own neither one of them. But if you want a console, I'll say go for PS2, for the exact same reasons as Teknohead listed, plus games are cheaper for PS2 and I think Microsoft needs to experience what it feel like to be number 2

haha now the fatal question , TADAAAAAAAM : how do you play burned games on ps2 ? what do u need to do so ?

PS 2 cause of the beter games. And if sells of the X-box don't rise MS is going to drop the X-box.

The ps2 sucks ass. I know from experience. It takes so long for a game to load and has no online capabilities (sony make's you buy an add on)The ps2 dosen't have a hard drive (add on) The xbox has amazing sound Dolby Digital which sounds amazing in a home theatre. The graphics card that is the Xbox will eat the ps2 alive (Nvidia) while the ps2 has an outdated ATI graphics card (the ones that is used on computers 2 years ago) The games on the Xbox are the best (Halo, Doa3, GTA 3 , Moto GP, NFL Fever)While all the games that are coming out for the ps2 are also coming out for Xbox. The xbox is the only way to go. Check out my sig for more info. You wont be disappointed with your Xbox. Trust me
