Question Did Modern Warfare 2 deliver?

I'll put this here because it's a multi plat title.

So, simple question, did Modern Warfare 2 deliver? After HUGE hype and HUGE sales, what do people think about the actual quality of the game? I think the single player is passable, it has three standout levels, the rest however were pretty much run of the mill, standard FPS genre stuff. Multiplayer has had multiple patches because it's got so many problems, but... I do like it. It's fast paced and fun, great to throw on for a 20 minutes blast a few times a day. But as i say, the single player is forgettable and kinda old fashioned (i enjoyed Killzone 2 and FEAR 2's single player more), but still, it's a good 8/10 game imo.

But, for the most anticipated game of this gen, is 8/10 good enough?

IMHO, it didn't. Ihave it from Gamefly right now. I was playing the MAG beta so it sat there. When the beta ended I put it in and expected to get blown away, atleast visually. I wasn't. The campaign is what it is. I thought I would finish it. I've played the multi-player a few times and it was fun, but I didn't really notice much of a difference from the first one. I think most of the fun I had was simply because I was playing with friends.

Now MAG is out and I probably will just send MW2 back to Gamefly because its game play is that much more compelling.

I finally played this game on the 360 and I can't see why there is so much excitement for this game. We played both the campaign and xbox live. There's nothing that hasn't been done at all. I'd rather play Half-Life 2 Deathmatch.

I would say the online component, when working, is absolutely fantastic, and can be hard to compare to any other online experience available today.

The single player part is just garbage, plain and simple, and should not even be discussed.

I am playing the game on the PC, and the seriusly flawed matchmaking, along with no steady-state servers is a pretty major flaw, IMO. Personally, I do not see this game lasting on the PC platform. Especially when games like AVP are being released so soon.

Single Player is unbelievably better than MW1, but I really really REALLY hate the maps on multiplayer. Love the game types, unlockables, and care packages though!

Well and truly over arcade shooters. Especially ones without dedicated server support.

It's an arcade shooter.

On some levels, it delivers brilliantly.

But for the most part, it's a watered down, noob-friendly frag-fest compared to MW1. I play it because everyone else is playing it (playing with friends is fun), but I'd still rather be rockin COD4.

Agreed.

After becoming good at MW2, play MW1. It's hilariously easy.
