Calvin Harris - Flashback vs. Ashley Wallbridge - Melodies

Hello,

My name's James Bong, I'm 21 years old, and I've been mixing on Virtual Dj for about 3 years. I've been using a wireless Logitech Keyboard and Mouse to make my sound. Didn't really find the need to get a midi-controller, as helpful as it may have been haha. I guess I'm what some would call a bedroom Dj. Figured I'd upload a mix to see what people think.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBRiu4sH6Ks

The tracks used are:
Calvin Harris - Flashback (Eric Prydz Remix)
Ashley Wallbridge - Melodies (Original Mix)

This is my first upload and I'd really appreciate your feedback, negative or positive.

If you enjoy what you hear, please check back for more.
If there's a demand, I will supply.

Thank You and Enjoy,

jb

It's a nice idea, but there is a lot of clashing and clipping throughout the mix.

In all honesty, if this is what you have came up with in 3 years of DJ'ing, you should be trying way harder.

Best of luck.

Woscar:
Well it depends what you consider to be a transition. I had about 4-5 cues on melodies which I played at specific parts of Flashback.

Adam 420:
Thanks mate.

Sushipunk:
True I suppose, I guess it's more along the lines of a mashup?

Amduscias:
Yes?

A.B:
Yeah, I was listening to it again today after a good nights sleep and I agree that there are clashing and clipping segments in the mix.

The longest mix I've made is about an hour and a half long but I found the transitions to be a bit weak, maybe because I'm using keyboard and mouse or just the tracklist itself. I have been thinking on working on a new one though.

Light The Fuse:
Bong by name...and then once I entered college...bong by nature haha

it doesnt sound terrible, though it doesnt sound great either. i was once like u too and virtual dj isnt the way forward, try abelton or something.

oh. try to spin something other than house or 'trance' to u, theres simply too much of it.
