Invisible Grin Virtual24 Dark - Deep Nova (22.2.2010) [PsyTrance/Goa]

I have been really taken with psytrance of late! So This Is what I came up with:

Virtual24 Dark - Deep Nova (22.2.2010)[PsyTrance/Goa]
1.Sun Control Species - Here Come The Titans
2.Bioluminescense - Cherokee (RPO remix) [Euphoria]
3.Alon Brilant - Straight Forward [Blue Tunes]
4.John '00' Fleming & The Digital Blonde - Oxygene (Solarstone Stellar mix)[Joof]
5.Ritmo - Dimension [Iono Austria]
6.Krama - After The Rain [Spintwist Germany]
7.Suntree - Privite Guide [Iono Austria]
8.Wizzy Noise - Lost Atlantis [Harmonia Greece]
9.Push - Strange World (Astral Projection remix)[Bonzai Belgium]
10.John '00' Fleming & Wizzy Noise - Endelexia (Original Mix)[Joof]
11.Xerox & Illumination - Ghost In The Machine [Hommega Israel]
12. Domino & Manmademan - Domino Effect [Wakyo Japan]

Tracklist looks nice but what's that doing in a psy/goa mix?

Downloading, but it looks incredibly J00Fish... I feel like I've heard all of these tracks already

Yeah meanly down to the fact in 07 the only psytrance I heard was from John 00 Fleming where I recorded all his shows that year. So its sort of stuck with me.

btw I heard your set the other week very nice mix

Hey, it's not a big deal, I made a set one time with pretty much nothing but tracks that J00F played (with the exception of Freq - Time Traveler)

Thanks! Well, I have to return the favor, now, don't I? Listening now...

Great first track, I love Sun Control Species. However, the first transition was very abrupt... but this is a J00F essential mix track! The transition into Straight Forward was better, but the one into Oxygene is far too quick. I also feel like your mix into After The Rain was a bit rushed. I love Suntree - Private Guide, great track. Ouch, the mix out of this was a bit patchy; you lowered the volume a bit too quickly. The mix into Strange World was a bit jumbled and rushed. The mix into Endelexia wasn't bad! Ghost in the Machine was a bit mismatched with the phrases, that one crazy noise it makes where it pans between the two earphones throws things off, I had that issue in my mix, Color Flux. Great fucking song though, I love the main part. Not a bad mix out, I would have left the last phrase running a bit longer. Last track is okay, I haven't heard this one before. Perhaps a more energetic track would have been better to end the set.

Overall, nice set, the flow was very well executed, the tracks were nicely selected, but the mixing needs some work to maintain energy. There were several times where the energy was lost a bit just because of some rushed transitions, but restored shortly after.

Everybody mixes differently, but try to focus on matching the phrases of the two tracks a bit better, and allow the incoming track to build up a bit and layer on top of the outgoing track. Don't just start the next track and start lowering the volume of the outgoing track until you have built up enough energy in your transition. When you feel it is time to transfer the energy to the incoming track, then you can start lowering the volume of the previous track. This doesn't really mean you should drag out your transitions, either, because if you let a mix go for too long it loses the energy. Ideally, you should try to match the phrases better to where the kick drops at the same time in both tracks. I generally let my transitions go for about two phrases. For example:
outgoing: | | | | | | _____ | | | | | | | |
________no vol change_____---> start lowering vol
incoming: | | | | | | _____ | | | | | | | |
_________--->increase vol --> start making this the primary track
That way you can keep the energy going and not rush the transition or leave it going for two long.

Also, try to avoid the "Goa" tag in mixes like this, this set can be considered a progressive psytrance set that builds into some full-on psytrance at the end. "Goa" refers more to the genre "goa trance" which initially used to be lumped with "psytrance" so people would call it "goa/psy". Now the two genres have incredibly clear differences, especially in the progressive and full-on realm. However, the remix of Strange World has a flavor that reminds me of Goa Trance, mostly because of Astral Projection's style, but it's still very much Psytrance.

Nice work, I would love to hear more from you!
