Idea trance and sound effects?

A few of my friends mix house, and they you their soundeffects. the effects do add a nice thumping sound to the mix. but it does get old.

I however, haven't heard many trance mixes using effects? maybie pan and flanger at most. does anyone out here use effects on trance regularly?

I like a bit of reverb, delay, and flange in my mix, I hav an external fx processor which does its job and adds that little extra something which a lot of the djs around here don't have to my mix. I find my fx processor to be some of the best money I have ever spent, as it can spice up a dull moment in a good track.

A flanger on a snaredrum intro sounds really great, only a bit too much used to be original, but still nice

Right! trance has such weak bassbeats i like to keep the three filters ganged on, with the resonance at about 4 o'clock (almost full)... and keep a heathy resonance down low (on the bassline) ... then I can wiggle the VCF frequency a little, making the bassline a little more funky.

funky filtered fast trance... ... and mix in a hoover from a hardhouse track while im at it.. awwyeeaaaa
