Its supposed to have been coming for the last 6 months or so. I wouldn't bother with apple right now. Whatever's causing the delay is most likely a technical issue, maybe something to do with the intel vs nvidia chipset fiasco.
Also, no matter what happens, any processor they put in will most likely only be dual core, not one of the higher end quad core i7s. So the macbook will still be pitifully underpowered compared to a whole host of far cheaper options.
If you want something specifically for battery life and mobility then get a netbook, otherwise, get a more powerful pc laptop.

Dell high end laptops are actually quite good. I've had one for years (XPS M1710) and never had an issue.
There's just such a high quantity of them sold that you naturally get a lot of bad reports, kind of like with iPods.
As for the question, they've been speculated about since last year but Apple don't see to be getting of their ass. No reason to yet because all the deluded hipsters still buy anything with an Apple logo on it. |
The firewire controllers and other bits and pieces on dells are really bad. Or they were up until a year or two ago. Don't know if they've improved now. Also, because they're poorly designed, I think the core i7s are often being found to be underclocking to reduce heat a lot of the time. Can't remember where I heard that though.

Well its a bit crap if your limited in your choices by your laptop's shoddy firewire IMO.
And I just think its emblematic of dell's approach. Make the components that are advertised high end (CPU, GPU, etc) while making the rest of the computer as cheaply as possible. I doubt whether that's changed in the last few years.
