try www.cheaptickets.com don't know whether they only deal with internal US flights. But check it never the less you never know. I might ask my mom her good friend used to work for a travel company, so since she has connections she might find a cheap flight for you. Where are you headed to? Amsterdam?

Well I'm headed there around the same time and I booked my ticket about a month ago. It cost a little bit less than $1000 but every airline was booking up.

The best thing to do is go for a last minute deal (maybe wait a week or so).

I wouldn't recommend getting them from Travelcuts, I was planning on going last new years and they gave me one of the second most expensive price to go! I cheapest I found was a travel agency here in Hamilton named Buttrum Travel and their price was about $200 less....
