Get a proper soundcard like the audio 4 or something if you don't have one, you will find maschine a pain without a proper soundcard. (latency)
Maschine is brilliant!!!, it's a lot of fun. It's also a kick ass midi controller, those pads work excellently as hot cues.
Cannot comment of ableton.

from what it sounds like...ableton will be your best bet. get a multi output soundcard, some midi controllers, and if you go the production route.
you can have the option of mixing between ableton and your cd decks although its not the greatest imo.
check out the abletonlivedj forums to get some ideas.

Just wondering, why do so many DJ's get a Mac instead of a PC when it comes to using a laptop with their mobil setups and DVS |
Mac is more reliable and manages the hardware better, Ableton live and this kind of software leech all the resources and introduces distortion to the sound if the processor specially isn't very fast.
However the current laptops are powerful enough for this so i think people use the mac because PvD and others use it and looks more professional, it's like when people underate some djs because of the gear they use... having 2x CDJ 2000 and Pioneer DJM-800 makes you a better dj?
