there's a good handful of laptop DJs around, myself included. those who have turntables may use Final Scratch, the rest of us spin with NI Traktor or Virtual Turntable. just wanted to hear your opinions on them (or us).

good way to learn mixing and improve , i have nothing against it

Agree that it certainly saves a shit load of money on buying vinyl and teaches you a lot of useful skills ... but there's just something really cool and tactile about using vinyls that you miss out on with laptops.

As well as that, if you start taking your DJing out of your bedroom, you'll be running into a whole minefield of copyright issues if you try and DJ at a club using MP3s and a mixing program.

I'm a bit agaist mixing pirate files but as for the Laptop DJing itself, nothing's wrong IMO, if you prefer (or simply it's too damn hard to financially get along with TT's or CDs) it then sure!

Well actually a DJ would be a disk jockey. So techinically they wouldnt be one

But i have nothing against peeps who use mp3s to mix.

Sorry, it sounds frank but i agree also, i dont think it would give off the same vibe dancing to some dude with his computer!

I mean, we all go home and play on pc's, so it would take away the 'feel of the dj' listening to mp3's!

I dont think it makes them 'less' of a dj, but i doubt clubs or fans would go for it.

I view it as less of a deejay. If i'm paying to see a deejay, i rather have the deejay spinning vinyl and some cd-r's.
