Anyone have any experience with this site? I'm staying on the West Coast for a good month and a half and hostels are stupidly expensive out there (not to mention seem to only accept international travelers), so I thought I could do this to save some money. I have heard of lots of people doing it and they always seem to have good experience/stories.

I have been staying with some locals on my trip to London last year, and I've got lots of friends who are in love with travelling and this is the way they choose to do it. It's fuckin awesome. You always meet some interesting people and even if you probably won't meet them again they most often become kind of your best friends for a couple of days. So I say, go for it.

Of course before that you should check if the people are trustworthy and won't rape you in the dollface

you do need to be concerned about this but I don't know how much you can really check on people. i know someone who used that site and it worked out for them.

Yeah, I planned on getting a hotel for the first few days I am there until I can find someone not shady from the site, or going with the cheaper option of staying in a hostel until I can work out couch surfing arrangements.

There's a system where users can comment on other users, so you might be able to ask someone who had already stayed at the person you're planning on staying.
