As songs go, I think it's a good start, but it could be developed a lot further than what you've got, so far. The lead synth progression sounds a little thin, in the beginning and is perhaps a little dry by the time the break-down is finished. Rhythmically, it's simplistic but not the sort of simplicity that can't be capitalized off of. The music, after the break-down, while quite interesting, felt still spartan.
Its sound is also fairly dated replete with the prototypical punch-in-the-solar-plexus kick drum and standard analogue screeching stab, sequenced in almost a bit of a marching rhythm.
What I like is its darkness and the sadness (implied in the name) it seems to run with. The strident chord progression seems almost to be arguing about its fate.
I hope you continue working with it. A few more elements and some progression beyond what you've got could really put this track over the top.
