As songs go, I think it's a good start, but it could be developed a lot further than what you've got, so far. The lead synth progression sounds a little thin, in the beginning and is perhaps a little dry by the time the break-down is finished. Rhythmically, it's simplistic but not the sort of simplicity that can't be capitalized off of. The music, after the break-down, while quite interesting, felt still spartan.

Its sound is also fairly dated replete with the prototypical punch-in-the-solar-plexus kick drum and standard analogue screeching stab, sequenced in almost a bit of a marching rhythm.

What I like is its darkness and the sadness (implied in the name) it seems to run with. The strident chord progression seems almost to be arguing about its fate.

I hope you continue working with it. A few more elements and some progression beyond what you've got could really put this track over the top.

Heyho!

Thanks a lot for your time and your great feedback! There are some very interesting points in your posting and you gave me some really good ideas for further improvements.

Beside the points you already mentioned what do you think about the plain mastering between stuff like the baseline, percs and the lead. Especially volume, clearness and eq'ing? I would really appreciate some opinions here cause that was one of my biggest weaknesses in past productions.

Cheers Tom
