which mixer: Stanton rm80, vestax pcv150, denon dn-x400, or pioneer djm3000?

alright, for those who have been help me in the other thread, i just wanted to start a new one since the other one had old irrelevent information. so now i've narrowed down to these mixers, most likely it will be between the first two choices but the denon is possible and the pioneer is a faraway but attainable choice as well.

Stanton RM80 $299

Vestax pcv150 $299

Denon dn-x400 $399

Pioneer djm3000

basically i'm not quite sure the difference in functionality between the vestax and the stanton, i've read up that the stanton xfader isn't as good as the vestax, but thats ok cuz i mix w/ volume faders anyhow (the xfader on my current mixer has been whacko for almost a year so i haven't really even touched an xfader for awhile, even at clubs and parties using other mixers, i just use the volume cuz thats wat im comfortable w/). now the denon seems to just be more expensive cuz of the digital outs and ins but i really have no clue if sound quality from that mixer institutes a $100 difference (although i'd like digital outs and thats the only thing that keeps me considering this mixer cuz i want to record to my MD digitally through an optical cable..but its not necesarry).. lastly the djm3000 would be my pick if i could really afford it. the reason is cuz i use a djm600 quite frequently and so i'm just accustomed to the pioneer setup and sound and yah, effects are cool but not necessary and besides the effects, i dunno if any other functionality on the pioneer is worth paying an extra $500. so basically my decision is between the stanton and vestax cuz they're the same price, and if the sound quality (not just because of the digital outs cuz that does NOT really improve sound quality, just makes it digital) is significantly better on the denon, than of course i would consider it too. so any opinions, i searched all over the net and came up empty handed when looking for product reviews on the stanton and denon, didn't really look up the vestax cuz i wasn't a fan of them before but will consider for this buy cuz i don't know what else to do. I need a 19" rack mountable mixer so please don't suggest any other type. and also, the benefit w/ the stanton is that its fader start will actually benefit me cuz i have a stanton cd deck (thus the need for the 19" mixer which will be put in a skb shuttle); however not really necessary cuz i know how to press 'start' on my cd controller so fader start isn't too big an issue, just and added bonus. u can go to http://djreel.onestop.net and click 'visual' for pics of my setup, i plan to get rid of the coffin and get the skb shuttle rack to throw the cd controller and mixer on the top and put the cd deck and amp(hidden under the deck in the pics) in the lower rackspace.

I say get the Pioneer. They have a good rep, and if you are going to drop money on a 19" mixer, you want it to be a good one. I've never used the 3000, but it has all the effects of the 500 and more, i would go for it.

if you are gonna go cheaper, then i say the vestax. I have heard bad things about stantons cheaper mixers, and i know that the PCV series from vestax is much better. I have a vestax and i love it, and i know peeps with stantons that wish they didn't get one.

the denon.. well, their must be a reason nobody i know has one?

its a long story. in a nutshell, it stems from the principle of me paying full price. in fewer words than it takes to really see my point and not think im just being stubborn, here goes: 2 yrs ago my friend's friend's father worked for pioneer and had a position where he was entitled to the pro dj stuff and my friend, and member in our crew, bought a djm600 for less than $425 (this is practically cost cuz dealer price is around 700 i read) and i had the opportunity to get it too, but i passed on it waiting for the then unreleased djm3000, by the time the 3000 came out, this guy's dad had left pioneer so i got assed out. so as you can tell, its not that i don't like pioneer (i love the mixer) its that i can't justify paying market price when i passed up the opportunity and could have had it for less than half wat it will cost now.. however, the REAL reason i am not getting it is because its basicaly $500 too expensive! im probably going to get the stanton and if it sucks, i will return it; no biggy. sound quality can't be that bad, i mean i record from my american dj right now and it sounds great.

gah!!! man, a DJM600 here is like $2000! that's CAD i can see where you are coming from though i guess...

get the stanton if you like, just make sure it has a warranty.
personally, i think the Vestax would last longer but it's up to you.

there is however this badboy, i'd love to drool all over:

course, i think it is more expensive than the DJM600, so, now i am just teasing ya!

The Pioneer DJM3000 is a GREAT box. I got the pleasure of playing on one at my last gig.

It's smoother than the 600, has more effects, isnt so bloody big, and doesnt cost as much. The levels didnt see as sensitive as the DJM600.

I was really happy with the 3000.. I have an A&H xone32 right now, and I love it.. the DJM3000 is right up there with it, beats it in some ways, but the a&h xone32 beats the DJM3000 in some ways.

All in all, the DJM3000 and the A&H Xone series are some of the best mixers on the market, for under a grand. The new Rane Empath is fabulous, too.. check it out! it's about the same $$ as an xone or djm3000, also.

cheers!

I figured out alot of diff shit to pull off on this bitch. The fucking VCF's are deadly, you learn new shit daily. Too bad it came with a Cross-over. Durable as Hell drop it and it claims you can "spill" drinks on it,SOLD!!!!!! Took apart to see, quality is Brit. A&H makes studio and live consoles period, get it???. They KNOW Mixing boards.

The Sound quality will BLOW you away. Isn't that why you buy new better stuff????

I paid around $1600 Cdn for mine and I would have willingly paid DOUBLE for the XonE 62
