You're right, the sound was off. I think it was like that because they brought in their own sound this time. It didn't used to be like that. There were several times when the speakers would crack and it sounded like they were about to pop. Not good.
I also think that the mayan is showing it's age and a remodel is due. If I was rich, I would buy it in a heart beat and remodel/upgrade that sucker! hahahaha
