Hello! New DJ, looking for feedback.

Hey Guys and Gals...

I just literally started getting into making Trance and electronic music about a week ago...I have always been interested, and have had the equipment to do it for quite some time..ever since before I got out of the Army......but I procrastinated and just never did it....well I finally set up my station which includes...

KORG Electribe EMX-1
KORG Kaoss Pad 3
M-Audio Axiom 25 Midi Keyboard
Macbook Pro
and Ableton 8 Suite.

Anyways...I sat down last week and ended up coming out with a song surprisingly....and I am now currently working on a second song which I have as a preview. I am looking for CONSTRUCTIVE criticism....if you simply just put 'it sucks'...that doesn't help me out any to progress as an artist. I know I still have a lot to learn, and what not, but I welcome feedback...thank you for taking the time to listen to my material...I look forward to being inspired by all of you guys

Here are my two tracks...

"Relationships are Overrated."

And...

"Monk" Preview

Thanks again
Stay Posi...

not bad for a first track. the best advice I can possibly give you is to spend as much time learning the software and learning how sound design works. It will shine through on your tracks, and you will get better every time you finish something. I'm not sure how much you know about production so far so I will keep this simple. I always have a general idea of what I want a track to sound like when I start something new, and maybe what vibe I am trying to achieve with it (chill, grooving, epic, melodic etc). If you have any classical music training that cant hurt in making your chord progressions and arrangements. Just keep your music new and interesting and dont be afraid to experiment with other genres, it will teach you a lot.

Now that i've heard these two songs, well sounds just like my first songs what i made back in 2002, and there is only one way and it's up
For my ear, these songs were pretty horrible, heh sorry to be so forward about it, but imo. sugarcoating doesn't help.

Im sure if u spend enough time with your programs and stuff, u will learn the tricks

I'll throw u a tip, it helped me, so im sure it will help someone else too, try make remixes of songs, from that way when u learn how something is done on some songs, u quickly get the basics learned

I really like your riff in "Relationships are Overrated." However, I think you need to work on the drums. Perhaps try moving the clap and the high hat forward in time. You can do that in Ableton using the "track delay". For example, try 7-15ms for the clap. See how that sounds.

Btw, where did you get that epic monk vocal?!
