Bonzai closing down trance labels

This is from a poster called Diamantidis over on the anjunabeats forum;-

I have recieved a mail from the A&R or Bonzai Records earlier because of my complaints for not promoting my remix and
stuff ! The answer was that they close down all trance labels because according to what he said :

" The pure trance scene is a sick organ in the EDM genre mate and since theres not cure to it we rather take a step back
from it. "

What do you say to this when Bonzai once became a colossus in the EDM scene because of trance !

What do you say to this when they do not even inform their artists of such a huge step ?

I am really not into starting anything against the guys as they have been straight against me and they did a wonderful job
getting POL's release out on EVERY digital download site ( such as beatport , audiojelly etc ) but I would really like to let
people in here know that there is no more Bonzai for trance so if you want to send something over to some label , exclude
them from your list unless you have some more deepy or techy sound !

I do find myself drawn to more simple spacey tracks without the intense rolling basses and searing pads and crashing claps.

So what do you think is the sound people want now? I know we are told only make music for our own pleasure, before anyone says it

progressive is still big has been for years and will spark new talent. anything tech people seem to love not to sure about this dub step shit but its a new genre and so now is the time to make a impact.

most other genres are filled with established artist so this makes things hard for us up and coming producers.

just need to keep on making tunes and one day hope it sticks

beatport, audiojelly, iTunes, spotify, youtube, soundcloud, myspace, tunecore, etc etc etc. theres thousands of ways to promote yourself today. and basically if u are a little webdesign-interested u could set up your own website with paypal. then ud get money directly without any middleparts stealing from you. and best of all, u can combine all of these without stepping on anyones toes or break any contracts. fuck labels imo, set up your own for your own music.

It was inevitable eventually. If something becomes unprofitable; you dump it.

Labels are going to become far and far fewer in the coming years. To me this is an awesome thing! No disrespect intended towards the Bonzai family of course.

This sounds a bit odd. I just signed a collab and a solo project to Bonzai, admittedly neither of them are 'trance' as defined by the ASOT / TATW shows etc but they both have trancy elements as well as a bit of prog and tech. The contract for the collab (which is the most trance of the lot) has an option for us to send our next three masters to Bonzai first, wouldn't expect to see this if they are moving away from the trance sound.

Not saying you're wrong though
