Replacement Covers for Technics?

Hey, I am seriously considering buying used MK2's but the deck covers are terribly stained... I have seen replacement covers in different colors available on hollywooddj and other places.. Anyone know anything about these? Are they different than your standard turntable covers that come with MK2's or are they the same? Does anyone also know if it would be possible to order replacement official Technics covers in Black?

On a side note, one of the deck's pop up light is broken as well I believe.... How much would it cost to fix this and what does it entail? Any help would be appreciated!

The covers just slip over your TT sym. They won't actually replace the stained surface, they will just hide it. I honestly don't think that you can get a replacement top for Technics either, but if you can I imagine it to cost a lot. You would have to take the deck to a repair shop to get the light fixed and I don't have a clue how much it would cost you.

Hey Sim,

You should check out www.1200s.com for your parts. But actually i don't think that it's nessesary to replace youre topparts. Like many other things, it's the inside that counts

Thanks guys, I emailed the guy at 1200s.com to ask about which part it is I'd need and if they sell the black cover... since there weren't many images of the parts on their sites.

its the top cover the one you need.... now if you want it in black its 109 i think and in silver 100 bucks, or vice-versa.
Oh, and you dont need to take it to a repair shop, you just need to remove the feet on the bottom and the screws on the bottom. Remove the plater and secure the tonearm, then the remove the cover, it should come right off.

I originally purchased some used ones that were dented on the top covers, and they had some issues with the pwr switch as well. I went ahead and removed the cover and checked it out inside to see what else was damaged, but it was really easy to do.

The only difficult thing to do to these decks would be working on the tone arm itself and repairing the circuit boards (cause the one of them is non replaceable).

Oh, also you can purchase color top cover ones... those are aftermarket, they run about 69 bucks i think. You can do a search online. I think i saw the covers in one of my DJ catalogs for either pssl or musicians friend, cant remember.
