Well if the synth doesnt just hold the note, try using some reverb.

Or you could increase the realease time of the amplitude envelope from the sound, or you could make a loop from the sound.
An envelope is part of synthesizers and samplers, were you can edit the sound with,, so that the sounds becomes a different shape.
You could make a loop of the sound with a sampler, were you loop (let repeat) a part of the sound so the you can make it sound longer.

A lot of software support these features.

This may a stupid question, but I gotta ask...

Where do I find a knob for "increase the realease time of the amplitude envelope" in Reason?

On the substractor there is a amp envelope section. You will have to adjust the R (Release) option there.

On the Malstrom you will have to adjust the r option too on the osc A and osc B section I believe.

Onh the NN19 the same: adjust the r option
from the Amp envelope section.

It a hard one, methods that will increase the length by a little are: reverb and timestretching, but not by a huge amount.

If you set up a loop point on a sample, were it plays the first half and then loops a section till you release a key that would work the best.

Im not sure how to do it with what your using, but have a look in either your editor or on your sampler.
