Moritz Von Oswald Trio - Live In New York

Can anyone say if this is worth the bucks to buy? I have Veritcal Ascent and enjoy it on a regular basis. Vertical Ascent didnt come with a CD so it was cheaper than this. I'm a bit hesitant to drop 30 clams on this unless its special

I wonder if that's stuff from Vertical Ascent, new material or some mixture. As much as I love both Oswald and Delay, and their past work is more than 90% awesome, I just fucking hate/don't get Vertical Ascent.

Is that from when they played at the polish place back in June?

That show was terrible.

there's a lot of new material, but the style is close to Vertical Ascent.

I havent heard much of his stuff, but if you have to pick some seminal pieces what would they be? Incl. Albums.

Yea I have to admit Vertical Ascent is only for a certain time and I cannot say exactly what that time is. Try doing it at night with the TV turned off and very little background noise, or first thing in the morning on a saturday or sunday. I usually start with sections 2 or 4

Sometimes I'm able to get into it this way...but not every time. When it clicks though its really cool.

he has an enormous amount of work done. i've only touched a bit, but here is what you should listen to first:

(Moritz von Oswald & Mark Ernestus) Basic Channel - Quadrant Dub II

(Moritz von Oswald & Mark Ernestus) Cyrus - Inversion

(Moritz von Oswald & Mark Ernestus) Maurizio - M4.5A

Moritz von Oswald - Watamu Beach Rework

Carl Craig & Moritz von Oswald - ReComposed

and then all the Basic Channel work. i would like some recommendations myself to be honest, as i only found out about MvO because of Vertical Ascent when I saw he was collaborated with Vladislav Delay.

btw, check out Vladislav Delay - Multila. it's one of his most beautiful compositions, and not very accessible even to regular listeners of weirdness.
