ha, never thought of that. i haven't seen any restaurants that plays trance, that's probably because trance is too danceable and it's hard to sit down and listen to it, especially when you're eating. hell, if i were to operate a restaurant i wouldn't play trance either, but play breakbeat, britpop or trip-hop, depending on the restaurant's atmosphere. bars and pubs may play trance, but in a country like Canada, it's more likely to hear "canEHdian r0cK" in a pub.

Last week I was @ Cafe 521 on Danforth with a few friends and we were all shocked to hear trance, and it wasn't mainstream at all. Some of the tunes we couldn't identify. But it's not a DJ and it was the first time I heard it there.. The place is really cool anyhow.

wells..
it's not exactly a restaurant.. but Midnite Oil up at Steeles and Warden play trance off mp3's. These place is more of a cafe/lounge but it'z all good. Caters more toward the Asian crowd tho but they won't bark at you if you're not.

ok first of all...corona aint a restaurant.....second of all they dont play trance..it was only for that night(from what i gathered) and DJ Eso and arek and Ziggy "might" be resident djs..... as for the bar overall, its not bad... u cant say a bar is bad unless u go to bars/clubs regularly..... ive seen worse...(example:bauhaus) corona was a more mature, planned out joint.....
hope i didnt spark any nerves but thats my opinion
Hmm too bad trance is too good to play in restaurants

Thanks to all that replied...
and I've been up to Midnite Oil before :P I am asian... BBT and all that is my thing, but I tend to think that I'm shying away from it because I've lost most of my Chinese friends.
I actually find that trance sometimes can suit the mood when you eat. But I guess it's more the progressive house styles..
I was in Europe last year and a lot of restaurants played trance... even the catchy Played-a-live by Safri Duo invigourated my appetitie while waiting for the fude to be served!
Cheers

I remember hearing trance @ 521 too. I also hear a lot of house (semi-commercial) however I would argue with you weather the palce is cool or NOT!!!
