Mopho keys - I'm about to buy - anyone using it?

I'm selling my Moog Rogue today - a buyer is apparantly en route to me now.

I want to buy a mopho keys for bass duties as I've long wanted some hardware bass monster. Ok I could have had the Rogue midi'd up but to be honest I felt the bass although fat, was just too random sounding - each hit of a note made the sound different as per true 'old' analogue, but for me the randomness was too much to bare (awaits a whuppin)and there was too much attack phase random noise and squelch for me.

So before I do - would you suggest I spend the money on something else?

I thought about Trillian - but other software bass products such as subboom bass have for me not sounded polished - so I worry a Trillian will be the same. Specifically I mean the subboombass has wierd alias funny noises no matter which sound you play which ruins the experience for me. As an example in the attack phase I simply cannot get it punchy enough even using TRACS and other compressors and transient designers. Also I cannot manipulate the envelopes as I want - there is often a sloppy attack and the decay is all wrong.

I want fat bass with impact and power plus instant hands on intuative editing.

Go read the SOS review on Trillian. It's not like Subboom.

I have a Mopho module. Absolutely love it. Would love to have the keys version for all those knobs. It's a little pain to program with just the module. An editor does exist for it (soundtower), but from what I understand there is a VST editor kinda similar (but not as in-depth or good) coming for the DSI products. As for now tho you can at least save patches on your computer and recall them with soundtower instead of having to dig for them in the synth.

Steve

I'm tossing up between the mopho keys and the Leipzig mono synth just now - I've asked analogue solutions who build the Leipzig what sonic advantage / hotspots it has over the mopho but I guess they wont really be able to supply a meaningful comment - for a start they aren't into EDM from what I can tell - the demos are very 70's prog rock I think.

PS - the rouge has just left me - I feel a bit choked up oddly enough!

If you're in that price range and wanting analog, I would without a doubt get this over the Mopho keys, unless having keys is crucial to you.

Just as you posted this a dealer here said the same thing!

I'm awaiting price on the SE1X from him.

I have a single EMU midi interface for my Roland Fantom, so presumably I'll need some sort of double connected midi interface to hook into a keyless unit like this.

I owned a Mopho (desktop) for a while and currently own a P08. I also own Trilian and SubBoomBass. The Mopho is great for analogue basses and cool sequenced parts. I haven't used the Mopho Keys, but it definitely looks like a step up from the desktop version in terms of hands-on control, but it's still not as knobby as it could be (i.e., dedicated knob per parameter), which makes me wonder how much menu-diving or relying on the software editor a user would actually end up doing.

As mentioned, Trilian is nothing like SubBoomBass and is much more versatile. Since getting Trilian (and DCAM Strobe, which I also love for basses), I have not even touched SubBoomBass.

Oh, and a +1 on Stephen's recommendation for the SE-1X (or an ATC, for that matter).

the new oxygen keyboards are the tits and they're very affordable. i'd trade my novation compact 49 right now for a 49 key version of it.

Fuc, I've just done an impulse buy with analogue solutions here for the Leipzig - thanks for your advice guys though. The SE website I hate - all too up it's own @rse to be ubver cool and hence IMO uber unnavigable.

Demo of Leipzig here - juicy -
