Every 2nd Kick: Claps, Snare or Sound Effect?

I go for claps. it's cool to see some snare tracks around, like Fire& Ice stuff but claps own.

Claps, with lots of reverb!!! Snare is strange, and depending on the sound effect used, it might sound either too cool or too bad.

I'm a snare man myself ... or a big phat WUB on the bassline every couple of beats is always a safe bet to get me on the dance floor. Something like Oakie's remix of Grace - Not over yet ... doesn't even really have a breakdown until late in the track, but the tension is just built in the track as soon as that bass drops and you just HAVE to get up and go ape shit on the floor.

yes it was.. I'm not a producer like some of you people.. I don't focus on every single aspect of the tracks when I'm listening.. can't remember the drum patterns of hardly any track. I'm clueless about how to respond to this, so I'd rather not vote

Yeah I know, sorry for sounding like a jackass

It's quite simple, every 2nd Kick (bass drum)... there ussually is a sound... Think of your basic rock drum pattern... Kicks & Snares.

In Trance, claps are more common... like... Listen to Gouryella - Tenshi (original mix). Count 32 kicks. That's one the claps at each 2nd kick come in.
Basically there are 3 types of them, the one with the cool, lasting, hard reverb like in Tenshi, That "Ahhh" sound ,
or in Ocean Lab - Sky Falls Down , there's the one that sounds like a handclap like in Vengaboys - Kiss (Airscape remix), S&G - The Beauty of Silence (original), S&G - Twisted (original) or Ransom - My Dance (Ferry Corsten remix), ussually sound saying "Cap" or "Ca". Finnaly, there is a cool one that is pretty much like the hand clap, but has reverb delayed by 2 beats, like in Beam vs. Cyrus - Thunder in Paradise (Scot Project remix), Silverblue - Step Back, Silverblue - Do You Know? , B&J - Desire (Silverblue remix), and Barthezz - On the Move (original)... Sounds like whispering "Aha" ...

In Fire&Ice - Souvenir De Chine, or Robert Miles - Children (Guitar version), for example, there is a snare every second beat...

Well, now it's pretty clear, ws yer choice?

I think claps SUCK

it's the old gabber sound...should not be used in trance IMO

secondly..i don't think you should use a fixed order of instruments in every song..makes it sound dodgy
