I hooked up my computer to my stereo reciever so I could listen to music through my stereo speakers. It worked fine but theres a bit of a humming or a buzzing sound in the background. The sound gets worse the more I turn my speakers up. I've made sure none of the connections are loose but it's still there. Anyone know how to fix this? thanks.

Get magnetically shielded wire.
If that doesn't work its your amp, I've got the same problem, when I have more than 2 source connected to my Amp and I listen to Music from the PC there is always a humming sound, but when I disconnect all the wires except the one from the PC it disappears.

Are you sending it as an analogue signal? if you are, You will get a low humming noise which is massive feedback. Make a digital cable.

Hook your cable to your digital out on your soundcard and you coaxial digital input on your reciever. BOOM! no more feedback

Gold Plated connections help lots too.
It helps cut down any 'transient' signals your amp may be picking up.
Sure they're a little more expensive, but worth every buck.
(I had this problem too).

How old is your amp? You can buy some anti-static spray and spray your amp knobs to cut down any static buildup you may have too.

may be electric hum.. there should be a ground connection on your amp and just stick any old wire in there and push it into the groung on a wall outlet...

I almost guarentee that his problem is that he is sending the signal via an analogue connection. Hook it up to your digital connections and it will go away.

I tried hooking my comp up to my stereo through about 100 ft of cable through analogue and the impedance was TREMENDOUS (what this dude is talking about)

Then I went digital and boom, problem is solved. That is because digital sends the signal under the analogue.

Thanks, I'll try those in a while. I got all of the wires on the back of my reciever mixed up and I can't figure out where they all go. This could take me a while to fix

UHm, this might sound obvious, but maybe you have the mic on. Mute the mic. :P HEhe, i know it sound stupid, but you never know. :P
