He has been producing for a while now, but I only really noticed him when he came out with this:

He was also ranked high on the TA Dj list (apparently extremely credible ), so I am looking for some recommendations.

i don't like him as a producer at all, that being said...he knows how to play a party. His best sets always lack his tracks, the one thing about joris is that he will play some old track in a context that completely makes you feel that even if the track was produced "x" years ago..it sounds like it was done yesterday.

he does not play forward thinking music, but he sure as hell knows how to play a set that pleases many...and even the chin strokers.

this confuses me sometimes, because his productions and remixes are lazy. I think that he is one of those rare "you have to hear play live to get them" people.

That makes sense, he seems to have gone through some big changes in style in his productions (mind you i have only skimmed through his songs). Does he play in Canada much?

He used to produce much better music in the past. Much better. Now he is only concerned with functionality when producing a new track/remix. Personally I find the vast majority of his newer stuff sounds hollow and cheap.

With that being said, I also saw him 3 times in the past 14 months or so. First was the best, second was second and the third time was decent at best.

i agree although, i think that he was putting out a lot of forward stuff a few years ago...but ever since he got some success the past year, he find a niche..and sorta stuck with it..

No. Not for a at least a year or so.

edit: the tracks may be different but the overall experience will be the same more or less.

when i said i don't like him as a producer at all, it was exaggerated because incident is easily one of my fav tech tracks of all time. (by this i mean top 10). i can't get behing sweep the floor and all of the other stuff personally. HE is a hell of a dj though, and uses layering and live sampling quite well.

he won't educate you, but he will make you dance a lot.

it is a good track, but i admit that the nostalgia factor from a certain techno based nightclub here in the late 90's/early 00's influenced me.

Maybe it depends on the venue, I saw him twice this year, the first time was at a big festival where he dropped "anthems" and dancefloor-oriented stuff (with talent as you said), the second time was in a smaller club in Paris, where he took more time to build his set, he played more forward thinking music. Both were very very enjoyable though.
Oh and his productions sound like "hey, let's put my whole library of high hat and shakers"
