Carl Craig or James Zabiela

Just thought I'd get the opinions of any TAs who've seen one or both of these guys live in the last year or two. They're both playing this weekend and I can only afford to go to one. Which should it be?

Any insight into how good either of them are, what kind of stuff they do and so on is helpful.

I've not seen Carl Craig in over a year, but I caught James at Creamfields in August and he was truly excellent, totally took me by surprise. Definitely one of my favourite sets of the festival.

Anyway, I recommend James, you can expect everything from techno to drum & bass and everything in between, done very tastefully.

Saw JZ at Tomorrowland this summer, wax my third time I saw him play and he performed well. As stated above, his sets consist of multiple genres smoothly blended together. He's also fun to watch, always smiling and bopping his head like a madman.
If you want an impression of him live, check out that be at tv site, an extract of his tomorrowland set is on there. I think about 35 mins in he inserts a dnb track (really wanna know how he did that temposwitch).

zabiela is an amazing technical dj that plays horrible music...carl craig is a legend.

go with craig it is not even close.

not for the technical merit, but to get a dose of proper music spanning from several generations vs zabs robotic shit nerd funk.

Zabiela played some absolutely lush music on his Essential Mix, including some awesome atmospheric drum 'n bass.

possible.

i last saw him with that god awful one plus one project, it was really really bad...and the time before that he spent so much time messing with the tracks that people were standing on the dancefloor wondering what to do with themselves.

a matter of taste i suppose...but i did not hear his recent em.

carl craig is not a good technical dj...but he will play good music every time. At least to me.

I can say the same for his set at Creamfields, I knew he was a good DJ and I've always been a fan, but his set was really impressive.

I agree with everything that was said here..

I guess what it really boils down to is.. What kind of mood are you in amd what are you feeling?

Lets be honest.. either way you cant lose!

Looks like Zabiela wins. Carl Craig is always playing, anyway. He'll be around again before long.

ehh i can understand what he's saying, though. haven't you ever been out, dancing, and suddenly the dj starts doing something and you sort of stop dancing and think "hmm. can't really dance. what's going on where'd the groove go?". not a fist pumping vs. listening issue.
