We always welcome artists that try to bring a refreshing breath of air to the scene and that is what Insert Name are trying to do. Lets evaluate their first output.


Insert Name

Insert Name are Stu and Adam McNally from Hinckley in the UK. They created the Insert Name project in May 2010 with the objective to create and deliver a refreshing Progressive-Tech sound. This EP released by JOOF Recordings is their official debut, but more productions, remixes and collaborations are on their way.


Insert Name – Direct Drive / Identity (JOOF Recordings)

1. Direct Drive

Direct Drive is the type of track it would not be too surprising to hear in a Kintar set. Groovy Progressive music with the right amount of tribalistic percussions and a female voice sample in background. The track progression is very slow and induces an hypnotic feeling. The final part of the breakdown in particular will surely blow up a dancefloor. Our only suggestion is to play this track slightly pitched up, as the original bpm is on the slower side for a track that could ideally be used in the ending part of a Progressive set or in the opening stage of a deep Trance set.

2. Identity

Like Direct Drive, also Identity uses a really groovy kick, but in this case the bassline is even more powerful and we leave the tribalistic territories of the previous track for a more Progressive Trance oriented arrangement. From the breakdown a very simple yet functional melody takes center stage. A very simple track in its construction and execution, yet delivers effectively on its promises.


Verdict: this debut by Insert Name has surely generated enough interest that Trancealert will keep an eye on the upcoming works of this duo. If you want to listen to a fairly interesting take of Progressive music, we suggest to give this EP a try.
