Need a job in the nightlife scene?

Saw this on craigslist. I would even go after it if I could guarantee better pay. What they say you would make...well, that's what they say and this seems like a new thing for them so how the hell do they know for sure.

http://losangeles.craigslist.org/la...2056971649.html

New interactive online music venue is searching for a top performing promoter and sales person to cover a metropolitan area.

We are looking for someone that’s passionate about music, is active in the nightlife community, and has been or is a promoter. We are seeking an organized sales person/promoter, who’s expected to capture new audiences, invite “friends,” create groups and forums. You will be responsible for driving sales and online traffic to our company’s venue through social media outlets including: Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Foursquare, blogs, forums, etc. You’ll use all these platforms to invite friends (make the sale), have them invite their friends, and keep them coming back.

Ultimately there will be live nightclub events you’ll be asked to help plan, promote, and attend, which is why we’d like you to be active in nightlife currently. This is an amazing opportunity for the right outgoing, computer savvy and social person. This position will be working from home, and is as full time as you make it. You should be making $60,000+ easily, the first year.

Requirements:
• Experience utilizing Facebook, Twitter, blogging, and other social media is required. You are over 21, have 1500+ friends on Facebook, you tweet daily, have lots of followers and are fluent in other aspects of social media.
• Proficiency in all MS Office applications and extremely computer literate.
• College degree and/or applicable Work Experience.
• Ability to work with limited supervision with a high level of motivation and perseverance.
• Creative thinker. Offers suggestions on additional ways to get the word out and market to potential users.
• Ability to interact with all levels of management, employees and clients.
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment and flexible to constantly changing variables.
• Organization and punctuality is key, as is maintaining a positive attitude.
• Ability to work flexible and irregular hours (from home), including nights and weekends.

Please email me with your resume, a link to your facebook, and tell me a little bit about yourself, what kind of music you like and why you’d be good for this job.

I don't know about this. Most people seeking employees would post a little bit more about themselves.

i'll never understand the facebook aspect. i get that a lot of ppl on TA here who promote events obviously use it to get the word out but I don't even look at my facebook event invites anymore because of how much spam there is in there (which is really annoying because sometimes friends will set up birthday parties that way). i don't know if i've ever even attended an event where i first heard about it through facebook haha. maybe some actually, but barely.

i rarely use Facebook to promote events. I prefer to keep it a social network instead of abusing it. Once you get labeled a "promoter/spammer" no one takes you seriously.

Exactly.

But for some it's their only tool, and it's HIGHLY effective.

I have a friend that mainly does hard to get into nights at certain clubs (in Hollywood) and bigger "parties" here and there, but it has worked out for him.

But then again, is their a difference from like a promoter and a VIP host?

Promoter gets heads in the door and VIP host sets up the bottles and table reservations? VIP host makes more money I would think unless you have a super promoter bringing in like 300 people with a $5 return on each head or something.

My messages on facebook are about 99% event invites that I never check out unless I'm looking for info on a certain event.

Sub promoters will get about $3 a head for no cover events and $5-7 if cover is charged. + $25 a bottle...

...main promoters usually guarantee the bar a certain $ (or else it comes from their pocket sometimes), usually keep all door money and a percentage of bar 10-25% ...

Sub promoting is less risky since you can't lose. Main promoters can lose if their DJ money is not made and their bar guarantee was not met.
