Ableton Live Accelerating Tracks

Hi guys,

well straight to the point then: i often want to mix a very low bpm song with a high one, but since my techniks kinda allows me only 8 bpms up, i use ableton to put da slow track inner and accelerate the crap outa it(as in i just change the 120bpm to 140 or whatever). Now the problem here is that it starts sounding wrong after this. Some beats are messed up, some parts of the song are faster over then they should, some parts are cut, any ideas why this is?Happened to any of you? Or is what im doing not the right way to do it(my guess lies here..)

Thanks!!!

read up on warping also you might need to play with the algorithm type to get it to sound more like it does at the original bpm

Can you just slice the entire song?

I don't know Ableton but theres different ways to approach this in Fruity.
If I have 2 files, both 1 bar long, and 1 plays at 125bpm and the
other 140bpm, all I do is slice the file I'm trying to match to the other. Once its converted into one shots, then you just slow down/speed up the tempo and everything glues together on its own.

That might be a pita for an entire track though.
You can also put both the files laid out next to each other. Set the bpm to the file you're trying to match, take the other file and just stretch it, than adjust the pitch or have your sequencer autopitch by itself. But this is for FL, I have no idea how to use Ableton but maybe you can figure out something from what I wrote lol.

Double click the clip
click warp mode
choose Repitch or Texture

Beats mode fucks it up if you don't have the right warp maerkers

Happens all the time here, avoid by all means the beats/keep transients mode for that purpose and choose complex if not complex pro. You will lose hi frequencies though, don't forget.

And also by all means, warp precisely at the sample, unlike many others who can't warp at all.

1/ Select the right warp mode for a decent quality sound.
2/ The accelerating effect you're hearing is because you haven't warped the tracks.
3/ RTFM.

Lol, right, forgot about complex mode. Ableton Live Intro doesn't give you complex

If you have complex mode definitely use it, but texture/repitch are pretty good anyway. Just not beats, beats is terrible.

I used beats /16 all the time and can't complain but my warping method is sometimes overkill too so it plays a role.
