mad for brads most inspiring pices of music ...ever
just for shits and giggeles i would very much like to hear mfb most favord pices of music right now and see if im missing out on anything production related or otherwise.
as the bar set by mfb seems so high im wondering what it is that defines his tates above all others.... im waiting
be a a little more specific. You are basically asking my favourite tune and that isn't something I can answer. And although I think my taste is rather impeccable, there are lots here that don't see eye to eye so I honestly don't know what the point is. People will like what they like and no amount of convincing will change that.
Are you specifically talking production ? Harmony ? performance ? ......

ok give me 1 good symphony 1 good movement and one good chamber piece.
the problem is that you probably define good by the hook and all the levels of abstraction, key relations and overall form is lost on you. I"m not being condescending , I just don't really understand your intentions. If your looking for psuedo classical with hooks, download hanz zimmer.
would definitely take the cake for Anthems. Even better than the Russian one although that depends on wether they have the all men choir. Although if they changed it with the hunt for red October theme and changed a bit of the arrangement, that would be bad ass. basically the women singing, scrap that,

tut tut tut you're side steping dude im looking for some educational music you consider above all others.
*side note* hooks, key changes and the above most people will like it's easy on the ears and makes for no real concentraion for the listiners cue hanns zimmer.
so something deep, organic and complex must be the only things that hold any merit/ceditability right?
I'm just scared that these wonders would just translate in chinese. It takes a bit of understanding to get why the music was so great. You won't really enjoy a symphony for all it is worth unless you have an undergrad in music. I mean if you can't even parse the chords being played , how do you expect to uncover the motives and key structure. You will just hear a bunch of music that sounds ok but makes no sense to you.
why are you trying to corner me into saying something I don't feel comfortable saying. I like classical music as it is extremely complex and there are so many levels to it. You can study just on piece for a year just to really get everything you can from it.
It won't educate you if you don't know what to listen for. LIstening to complex music is like reading a masters level math book when you haven't passed your grade 12 math.
I don't understand what this thread is trying to accomplish. M4B may be very vocal and perhaps overly opinionated about his preferences and dislikes, but his opinion is not gospel, nor is anyone else's for that matter. It's your own prerogative to agree or disagree with him, but this thread seems to be implicitly asking him to at least defend or justify his opinions and tastes in music, if not essentially asking him to "prove" to us that they are valid.

What's the point?
im not hating on him i could just reply to any of his posts with the same opinions as him i'm just curious as to what makes his Elitism on music
i'm not elitist. I listen to every style of music. II'm not sure what your agenda is. I will stand by my point that if you really want to enjoy classical music, you need to do a little leg work. I suppose it is like reading Shakespeare as opposed to Dan Brown.
You ask me to show great classical music and I reply that all the things that make it great would go right over your head because your musical palette and vocabulary is just not developed. It is what it is.
And I have no issues stating that the classic works have quite a bit more aesthetic value. Only an idiot would argue otherwise. That doesn't mean it is all I listen to. I have a mix tape with top 100 billboard hits for cleaning.I doubt I would ever spend more than 10 minutes dissecting a pop song because there is nothing there to dissect.
You have this idea that I am some classical nerd. Yes I know classical extremely well but I was a session player for rock , jazz , metal punk country ..... There is not one type of music I can't play. I can even play latin jazz for fuck sakes.
