Canada in TOP 10 of least corrupt nations in the world

I think that this is one of the most important markers in nation's prosperity and standing. Doesn't that make you proud? You don't have to worry about being pulled over and police officer demanding a bribe for a fake charge.

I think Canada is in the top 10 of countries who are best able to hide corruption. Trust me, corruption is rampant in canada. But instead of being obvious about it, we bury it into mounds of regulation and red tape. Our system is built to serve politicians and hide it from the public. What do you think the real reason is that you need a permit to fart in this country for example? In other countries they would just say "if u want to continue farting you must give me an envelope full of 100s)" LOL

More rules, regulations, red tape = more reliance on government = more power and ability to get what you want from people.

compared to what i've witnessed living in eastern europe, canada is complete 180 in terms of corruption and bribery.

it's a sad list if Canada is in top ten. our serious corruption is less serious compared to elsewhere. not very heartening.

I'd suggest people read through the methodology section of the report, while also keeping in mind what is actually being measured here, before simply accepting the conclusion in the thread title.

It's interesting how big this report is, and how little it shows. Asking someone in business in another country would net more useful info.

Anyone who says Canada shouldnt be in the top 10 obviously has never been outside of canada.

Also, im surprised Russia scored so well....

Yes indeed, I took the term "transparency" and made it into "least corrupt", without much explanation or comment. A lot of factors are measured in the report.

I lived/been in dozens of countries, I can tell you firsthand that this report bears much validity, apart from some things that are hard to measure - for example, American government isn't as transparent as the rankings go, I'd say.

Russia's not so high in the list, what are you talking about, LOL ... they are ranked 150-something, thats just above Kyrgyzstan and just below Iran. Not a good place to be in comparison.

Probably not 100% accurate report, as some things are impossible to measure - especially when it comes to government transparency and corruption. Overall though its generally accurate, provides a very good overview.

Somalia hasn't had a functional government since 1991 or so. Lawlessness mostly, although in northern part of the country its much better (outside of Islamist control).
